Homeowners will be able to change lender up to two months more quickly than they currently can if new EU mortgage proposals become law.

Homeowners will be able to change lender up to two months more quickly than they currently can if new EU mortgage proposals become law.

The proposals, published last week, said borrowers should not have to register their mortgage again when changing to a new lender.

In some EU member states, including Ireland, borrowers must register a new mortgage deed when switching to a new lender, which can take up to eight weeks.
