Chanelle buys Dublin firm for €4million

Chanelle, an Irish-owned pharmacy group based in Galway, has paid €4 million for a Dublin animal supplies firm, writes Gavin Daly.

The buyout of PBS Sales makes Chanelle one of the biggest distributors of pet food and pet products in Ireland.

The group has annual turnover of more than €60 million. About €14 million of that comes from its pet business, Chanelle Pet Accessories, which was set up three years ago. Michael Burke, managing director of the Chanelle group, said there were ‘‘great opportunities’’ in the pet supplies sector.
