Champion owners reap €1m dividends

The owners of The Clare Champion, one of the country's few remaining family-owned regional newspapers, shared dividends in 2004 of more than €1 million after a 70 per cent jump in profits.

The owners of The Clare Champion, one of the country's few remaining family-owned regional newspapers, shared dividends in 2004 of more than €1 million after a 70 per cent jump in profits.

The newspaper, which is owned by the Ennis-based Galvin family, made a profit of €711,000 in 2004, according to accounts just filed - an increase of more than €300,000 on 2003’s figure of €409,000.
