A financier-turned-entrepreneur has combined an interest in the internet with a taste for wine to form an online business selling champagne.

Gary Comey, who worked in investment and capital markets at AIB for a decade, now runs www.champagnedirect.ie. He set up the company after noticing a gap in the same-day delivery market and teaching himself HTML, the internet programming language.
