New York-based private equity firm Cerberus could find out shortly whether it can finally complete its purchase of Irish waste company Greenstar.

The deal has been stalled for almost a year because, according to sources close to Cerberus, it is partly contingent on the investment firm not being liable for the costs associated with the closure of four landfills in Galway, Kildare, Meath and Wicklow.
