An export-led recovery may not be a panacea for the unemployment crisis, according to a detailed analysis of the small and medium enterprise sector by the Central Bank.
The study of SMEs in Ireland was published last week as an annex to the bank's latest quarterly bulletin. According to figures cited in the report, SMEs account for 72 per cent of private sector employment, excluding construction and agriculture.
