Some 18 per cent of buy-to-let Irish investor loans may be classed as being in arrears this year, rising about 6 per cent in 2010, according to the Central Bank.

The level of arrears among owner-occupier mortgages may exceed 10 per cent, according to the central bank’s so-called Macro-Financial Review.

The forecasts “can only be regarded as tentative” as they are extrapolated from data that extends between September 2007 and May 2011, according to the report.
