Cellar notes: Frescobaldis fight back

The Frescobaldis, the famed Italian wine-making family, have acquired outright control of the Ornellaia winery.

The winery has been tagged by the US magazine Wine Spectator as the producer of the greatest wine in the world.

Frescobaldi has taken advantage of a clause in its contract that allows it to buy out its partner in the winery, the infamous US corporation Mondavi, thereby returning it to Italian control.
