Priests who face accusations of sexual abuse will be publicly named in front of their own parishioners under new guidelines drafted by Catholic bishops.

The clerics will also not have their cases heard by an internal Church investigator until all civil inquiries have concluded, potentially delaying a return to ministry for years in the case of wrongly-accused priests.
