Carlow dentist tops tax defaulters list with €1.7m settlement

A dentist from Carlow has settled a €1.7 million tax bill with the Revenue Commissioners. The agency published its latest list of tax defaulters today.

A dentist from Carlow has settled a €1.7 million tax bill with the Revenue Commissioners.

James Madden of Ballylennon House in Palatine, County Carlow had to pay €888,000 in interest on a tax bill of €488,000. He also had to pay €356,000 in penalties.

Madden settled for under-declaration of income tax. His case also involved a Revenue bogus non-resident account and an offshore assets investigation case.
