Car sales continue to slump across Europe

The economic turmoil is having a major effect on the sale of cars in Europe.

Findings from Global Insight indicate that total sales across western Europe in August fell by 16.4per cent, while running sales for 2008 were down by 4.4 per cent. New car sales in Ireland for the first eight months of 2008 dropped to 2003/2004 levels, while August sales were down 61 per cent compared to the same month last year.
