Car parking levy delayed until autumn

The long-awaited €200 levy on car parking spaces has been postponed until the autumn, writes Niamh Connolly.

Government sources said, following the receipt of a memo on the pilot scheme for Dublin city centre, ‘‘some technical issues’’ were still under consideration by Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan.

The levy was due to be rolled out on a pilot basis in Dublin city centre this month, having first been announced in the October 2008 budget.
