Profits at Canada Life’s Irish operations surged to almost €30million last year, up from €10million in 2004. The increase was largely driven by a strong performance from premiums and investment gains.
The company’s total technical income, which covers premiums, investment income and unrealised gains on investments, exceeded total technical charges, such as provisions and the costs of paying claims, by almost €15 million in the year to December 2005.
