Calling the toon

From humble beginnings in Kilkenny, Cartoon Saloon created the internationally acclaimed film The Secret of Kells, and has now just finished a pilot for the Disney Channel

Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, which is best known for the Oscar-nominated The Secret of Kells, was originally set up by two friends as they were unable to get permanent work themselves.

Paul Young and Tomm Moore met at Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin where they were both studying classical animation.
