Callely ordered to repay tenants

Fianna Fail TD and former junior minister Ivor Callely and his wife, Jennifer, have been ordered to repay a deposit that they withheld from tenants of a house they own in Artane.

The order by the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB) was made on February 15, but has only recently been posted on the PRTB website.

The decision relates to a dispute last year in which Callely’s tenants - John Kilcoyne, Siobhan Connolly, Eoin Hicks and Lisa O’Byrne - complained to the board that Callely and his wife had retained a €698 deposit paid when the four tenants started renting Callely’s property at 48 St David’s, Malahide Road,...
