Senator Ivor Callely is likely to face a formal complaint calling for his removal from Fianna Fáil if he does not resign from the Seanad, according to senior figures in the party.

Callely has already lost the parliamentary party whip, but there is a growing view in the top ranks of Fianna Fáil that he has ‘‘burnt his bridges’’ and must stand down after he was censured for intentionally misrepresenting his normal place...
