The imminent introduction of Vat on local authority services, such as waste charges and parking, should be deferred, according to the powerful lobby group representing council bosses.

The County and City Managers Association (CCMA) has raised concerns about the new system. They have argued that it will cause logistical and administrative difficulties for local authorities around the country.
