Cable: "pretty confident" Britain will stay in EU

UPDATE: British Business Secretary Vince Cable has said he is confident that Britain will remain in the European Union, even if a referendum is held on the matter.

British Business Secretary Vince Cable has said he is "pretty confident" that Britain will remain in the European Union, even if a referendum is held on the matter.

But he said the current debate on this issue had generated "unnecessary and unhelpful uncertainty among business groups"

Speaking on RTE's Morning Ireland programme, the Liberal Democrat politician said he wanted to calm this uncertainty.
