The battle for Irish cable operator NTL has had its fair share of drama. As the hours ticked down to the final deadline for bids at 1pm last Wednesday, one consortium in the race appeared to sunder. The Irish Agricultural Wholesale Society (IAWS) withdrew from the bid led by Setanta Sports last Tuesday evening. Its reasons for doing so were not made public.
