Cabinet reshuffle expected soon

Significant changes to a number of government departments are likely in the coming weeks, according to senior political sources, writes Political Editor Pat Leahy.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen is this weekend contemplating changes to both the structure and personnel of his cabinet, though no decisions have yet been reached.

The reorganisation has not been discussed with Green party leader John Gormley, though the reorganisation of several departments did form part of negotiations on the new Programme for Government last autumn.
