There is great variance in the prices of property in Ireland's regional towns. For value for money it would be difficult to beat Nenagh, where you can still get your foot on the property ladder for €135,000.

To natives of Mallow in Co Cork that sort of price is a fading memory, as a three-bed semi house in this bustling town now costs €260,000.
