A businessman who falsely told gardaí that two men had robbed him of a laptop and iPhone has been ordered to pay €2,500 to a children's charity for wasting garda time.

A businessman who falsely told gardaí that two men had robbed him of a laptop and iPhone has been ordered to pay €2,500 to a children's charity for wasting garda time.

Roland Monsegu of Blackrock, Co Dublin, pleaded guilty to the offence at Dun Laoghaire District Court last Wednesday.
