Businesses more confident, but fear budget impact

Almost half of businesses believe that the budget will have a negative impact on the economy, with little support for key measures such as the cut in excise on alcohol.

Almost half of businesses believe that the budget will have a negative impact on the economy, with little support for key measures such as the cut in excise on alcohol. However, a larger number are confident of the economy stabilising in 2010.

Research carried out among business leaders in the aftermath of the budget found that almost 48 per cent felt it would have a negative, or very negative, impact on the economy.
