The state greyhound body is being allowed to hold onto the lucrative betting licence at tracks which is worth €3 million per year. Bord na gCon has held the licence for on-course betting at all greyhound tracks for the past 54 years. It applies an on-course levy on all bookmakers' betting and puts the money back into the greyhound industry.
