Ciarán Donnelly has grown the family fruit and veg business into a major player, and sees diversification as key to future growth, writes Michelle Devane

As a child, Ciarán Donnelly spent his school holidays in the Dublin fruit markets, helping his father and grandfather in Donnelly Fruit and Veg, the family-run fruit and vegetable distribution company. He and his siblings were given "lots of little jobs to do", so that they would know how the industry worked.
