Bus Eireann plans to sell 115 ‘surplus’ buses
Bus Eireann plans to sell 115 ‘‘surplus’’ buses in its biggest ever sell-off of vehicles, writes Niamh Connolly.
The state firm is seeking tenders to buy the buses by June, but a spokesman for the company insisted that the buses were not being taken out of commission in the wake of Bus Eireann’s rationalisation plan and network cutbacks.
‘‘These buses are roadworthy, but are surplus to requirements. There is no net loss in the fleet and it is unrelated to the cost reduction plan,” the spokesman said.
