In what proved to be an otherwise insipid event, last week's budget threw a lifeline to the property sector with a raft of measures to encourage construction from small-scale to large.

With one in four people on the Live Register and almost 105,000, according to the Department of Social Protection, registered as former construction workers, Minister for Finance Michael Noonan acknowledged this specific sector as being the hardest hit since the economic crash in 2008...
