Irish telecoms operator Perlico Telecom last week followed the lead of Eircom and Esat BT, doubling the speed of its standard broadband service at no extra cost.

Irish telecoms operator Perlico Telecom last week followed the lead of Eircom and Esat BT, doubling the speed of its standard broadband service at no extra cost.

And with demand for broadband growing, customers can expect to get the service within two weeks from Eircom, 30 days from Perlico and up to several weeks from Esat BT, according to the operators.

However, there can be longer delays - for example Eircom has a five week wait...
