The take-up of broadband in Ireland is almost half the EU average, according to a report by a European telecoms association to be published this week.

The take-up of broadband in Ireland is almost half the EU average, according to a report by a European telecoms association to be published this week.

Only Greece has a lower level of broadband take-up in the European Union, the report states.

About 8 per cent of the Irish population has broadband, compared to an average of 15.9 per cent for the 15 original EU countries, according to the report by the European Competitive Telecommunications...
