By virtue of its low budget, John Carpenter’s original version of The Fog (1980), although by no means a masterpiece, earned itself a degree of cult status. Working with a small budget, Carpenter relied on directorial skill to instil fear in the viewer. The net result was a suspense-driven horror which played to human fears.
