Three weeks ago, I spent a wonderful four days touring the Burgundy region, high up and low down: the vineyards, the gastronomic restaurants, the cobblestoned villages and towns, the sumptuous chateaux and cathedrals.
Burgundy (Bourgogne) is a large region extending over 300 kilometres from north to south. It is perhaps most famous for its wines: reds made from the pinot noir grape, and whites made mainly from Chardonnay.
