Greyhounds bred from long-dead dogs are still running in races, in breach of the official regulations.

By law, the frozen semen from valuable greyhounds is supposed to be destroyed two years after they die. But the regulations have been widely ignored, with greyhounds bred from semen kept longer than two years being granted official registration and allowed to race at Bord na gCon stadiums.
