Minister for the Environment John Gormley is expected to rectify an anomaly that emerged after the last budget.

This brought in new rates of annual road tax, linked to a vehicle’s official CO2 rating.

However, these rates do not come into force until July 1 next and, in the meantime, rates under the old system went up from January until the end of June.
