Bookies set for €100m Cheltenham bonanza

Bookmakers are looking forward to a bumper week of gambling, worth well over €100 million, in what is traditionally the busiest week of the year for the betting industry.

Paddy Power, the country’s largest bookmaker, is anticipating betting turnover from the Cheltenham festival in excess of €45 million, about twice the company’s weekly average in Ireland. Punters will wager a further €5 million in its 40 licensed betting offices in London.
