Fresh from its successful foray into Facebook, Elevation Partners, the private equity firm co-founded by the U2 lead singer Bono, has taken a major stake in another high-potential US technology firm.

Elevation has participated in a $135 million fundraising round at Sonos, a California firm that makes high-end wireless speakers for home audio systems.

The deal closed last week and will see an executive from Elevation take a seat on the Sonos board.
