BoI to expand Global Markets division
Bank of Ireland plans to expand its global markets presence by recruiting 30 to 40 people to trade new areas for the bank in convertible bonds, eastern European sovereign debt and oil and gas markets.
The bank plans to shift its global markets headquarters to London and will consider making acquisitions to grow the global markets division. “We are looking tobuild our treasury team in London substantially over the next three years,” said Michael Sweeney, chief executive of GlobalMarkets. “London will be the headquarters, whereas because of Bristol & West it had been Bristol.The sort of activities we are looking at are happening in London, not Dublin....
