Bank of Ireland’s pension fund deficit has fallen by almost €1 billion, to €370 million, since it first developed plans to close its defined benefit scheme to new staff.
The bank’s pension fund shortfall continued to shrink in the six months to September after it changed the assumptions that it had previously used to calculate the difference between the fund’s assets and liabilities.
