Bank of Ireland will hire 30 lawyers to carry out due diligence on the transfer of property loans to the National Asset Management Agency (Nama). A spokesman for the bank confirmed this weekend it had hired 15 lawyers and was shortly to appoint a further 15.

Bank of Ireland’s decision will be a welcome fillip for property lawyers, many of whom have lost their jobs as the number of property transactions plummeted during the recession.
