Bidding war hots up for Arnotts

Hilco, John Lewis and Selfridges have expressed interest in iconic store, writes Ian Kehoe

A major bidding war is under way for Arnotts, with a string of international funds and retailers lining up bids for the iconic Dublin department store.

British restructuring firm Hilco and US investment firm Gordon Brothers have both made preliminary inquiries about a deal to the liquidator of Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC), which is offloading its stake in the retailer as part of the winding up process.
