Betfair ordered to drop starting price ad

The online betting company, Betfair, in which Irish venture capitalist Barry Maloney has a major stake, has been ordered to scrap a misleading ad about its starting prices.

The online betting company, Betfair, in which Irish venture capitalist Barry Maloney has a major stake, has been ordered to scrap a misleading ad about its starting prices. Betfair published two posters offering ‘‘40 per cent better SP’’ for its betting exchange. Pressure group Straight Statistics complained to Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) that the claim could not be substantiated.
