Cork's Bon Secours Hospital has had an iconic status in the city since 1915. Today, it is a 350-bed acute hospital with over 18,000 largely elective surgery and medical admissions annually and 29,000 outpatients in 2011. Cork is the largest hospital in the Bon Secours Health System which is in turn the largest private healthcare provider in Ireland with over 800 beds in Dublin, Galway and Tralee as well as Cork.
