Benign weather boosts FBD profits

UPDATE: Insurance company FBD posted profit before taxation of €59.7 million in 2011, compared to a loss of €3.1 million in 2010 and losses each year since 2008.

Insurance company FBD posted profit before taxation of €59.7 million in 2011, compared to a loss of €3.1 million in 2010 and losses each year since 2008.

Shares in the insurer rose 3.9 per cent in early Dublin trading, before dropping back to a 2.8 per cent fall, after it said that operating profit in its core underwriting business increased 61.5 per cent to €58.3 million, influenced by “benign weather and an exceptionally low level of large claims.”...
