In the early 1970s, during the height of the sectarian bloodletting in the Nor th, the broadcaster Denis Tuohy regularly returned to his native Belfast to visit his father in hospital. After such visits, he would repair to the Elbow Room - a public house close to the BBC headquarters on Ormeau Avenue.
