We had a magical summer up here in Co Monaghan. Everything bloomed early and self-seeded. Now I have the odd combination of Michaelmas daisies flanked by pink Iceland poppies, a cloud of white feverfew daisies - covering the bald patch where the Lavatera has died down - and a forest of fennel seedlings which I'll transplant.
