The need to put in special ‘bat lights’ pushed up the price of one of the country’s newest cycling greenways to €1.9 million.

The newest section of the planned Dublin-Galway greenway, alongside the Royal Canal on the northside of Dublin, which was opened recently by Tánaiste Joan Burton and Minister for Health Leo Varadkar, is just 2.5 kilometres long.
