Barroso says he supports Irish debt deal

European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso has said he is supportive of finding a deal on the issue of Ireland’s Anglo Irish Bank promissory note issue.

European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso has said he is supportive of finding a deal on the issue of Ireland’s Anglo Irish Bank promissory note issue.

Barroso told the Irish Times in an interview in today’s newspaper that the Commission was generally in favour of a deal, although he would not comment on specific proposals.

The interview took place ahead of today’s visit by Barroso and the European Commission to Dublin....
