Barristers to use new debt collection service

Barristers will be cracking down on solicitors and clients for unpaid fees through a debt collecting officer and the introduction of third-party practice support services.

The Bar Council of Ireland, which represents all practising barristers in Ireland, has set up a service whereby an appointed officer will act as a debt collector for barristers that wish to put pressure on solicitors and clients to pay overdue fees for legal services.
