A Dublin firm hopes to raise almost €500,000 in backing for a passenger canal barge to link Grand Canal Dock and the Guinness Storehouse.

The Barge Cafe Company has commissioned a Dutch firm to build the 18-metre barge, which will run tourist trips on the Grand Canal, creating 25 jobs for management, mariners and services staff.

The barge, the MV Cadhla, will be operated by City Canal Cruises, which has been approved for business expansion scheme...
