Bank of Ireland has today announced that it will be making available a new mortgage fund of €1.5 billion in support of customers who will be buying their first home in 2012.

Bank of Ireland has today announced that it will be making available a new mortgage fund of €1.5 billion in support of customers who will be buying their first home in 2012.

It said the move reflected "the very significant role" the bank was playing in the Irish mortgage market.

It said Bank of Ireland provided finance to almost six in ten first time buyer customers in the most recently published market data.
