Bank of Ireland has restructured 16,000 mortgages, says director

Bank of Ireland has formally restructured more than 16,000 mortgages, non-executive director Joe Walsh has told the Oireachtas Finance Committee today.

Bank of Ireland director Joe Walsh said that more than 86 per cent of restructured mortgages are fully meeting required payments and that the mortgage market was up 7 per cent in the third quarter compared to a year earlier.

Bank of Ireland has formally restructured more than 16,000 mortgages, non-executive director Joe Walsh has told the Oireachtas Finance Committee today.

Walsh and Tom Considine, the government appointed public interest directors at the bank, are in front of the committee today to be asked about a range of topics, including mortgage debt issues, their role on the bank board and the bank’s small business lending policy.
